The flagship state-services exam for Maharashtra — recruiting Deputy Collector, DySP, Tehsildar and other Class I/II officers. Now aligned to a UPSC-style descriptive pattern.
Eligibility
- Age: generally 19 to 38 years, with relaxation for reserved categories (higher upper limit for some).
- Qualification: Graduation from a recognised university.
- Knowledge of Marathi (reading, writing and speaking) is mandatory.
Exam pattern & selection
- Preliminary (2 objective papers)General Studies (Paper I) and CSAT (Paper II). 1/4 negative marking. Qualifying stage.
- Main (1750 marks · 9 papers)Marathi & English language papers, an Essay paper, four General Studies papers and two Optional-subject papers (UPSC-pattern descriptive from the 2025 cycle).
- Interview (275 marks)A personality test; final merit is Mains + interview.
Selection: Prelims (screening) → Mains (written, descriptive) → Interview → final merit.
