About the MPSC Rajyaseva exam

The flagship state-services exam for Maharashtra — recruiting Deputy Collector, DySP, Tehsildar and other Class I/II officers. Now aligned to a UPSC-style descriptive pattern.

Eligibility

  • Age: generally 19 to 38 years, with relaxation for reserved categories (higher upper limit for some).
  • Qualification: Graduation from a recognised university.
  • Knowledge of Marathi (reading, writing and speaking) is mandatory.

Exam pattern & selection

  1. Preliminary (2 objective papers)
    General Studies (Paper I) and CSAT (Paper II). 1/4 negative marking. Qualifying stage.
  2. Main (1750 marks · 9 papers)
    Marathi & English language papers, an Essay paper, four General Studies papers and two Optional-subject papers (UPSC-pattern descriptive from the 2025 cycle).
  3. Interview (275 marks)
    A personality test; final merit is Mains + interview.

Selection: Prelims (screening) → Mains (written, descriptive) → Interview → final merit.
